Day 35 Wednesday February 12

clearing west of Padre Is.
commercial area to the north

local enjoying a night out at the Boat House Bar and Grill where the motto is "Get Tied Up"

Galumphed out of McAllen after finishing off the sausage and egg casserole and saying so long to R and L our magnificent hosts (note R and S were friends since junior high). Weather very cool and overcast now; so nice after the heat on arrival. Landed in condo on Padre Island, very decent and dog friendly though there were some nasty burrs we were leading her through after beach walk when a woman high up on a balcony yelled a warning about said burrs; B did have a cluster of 4 of the little devils on the back pad of her weak front leg which I removed. Few people about mid-week in the chill and gray- also nice. Passed through northern fringes of Corpus Christi, an incredible sprawl of a strip mall mixed with a distant fairyland of refineries and 1000 acre plowed fields 40 feet above sea level. We've gained about 6ยบ on Langley today.
