| a taste of the Voodoo |
Misty rain this morning in the driveway. In house for K's delicious scrambled eggs and English muffins with a selection of picante sauces to try. J pretty chill, B not really interested in exiting the vehicle. Off to New Branfels for the wireless and more coffee at the Wicked Voodoo expresso joint after realizing that the Starbucks was inside Target and that Voodoo sounded more interesting and it is.
Ricochetted south.
Arrived Choke Canyon State Park about 4 after a day of zigzagging around southeastern Tejas hill country giving way to a more subtle surface of long rolling terrain. Lovely terrific breeze here on the edge of the reservoir. S dipped even though there were aquatic weeds and alligators. Fishermen were cleaning catfish and white bass at the cleaning station by the boat ramp. The electrified and water faucet sites are mostly filled; its a little hard not to envy those with the larger trailers and rv’s with their obvious homey comforts and cell signal booster domes and air conditioners and couches and tables and ovens but tonight the breeze soughs in through the back windows not blowing the candle out because its electric. Also the javelinas are rooting in the bush and the caracara hawks are flying low. B is safe in the middle of the floor making it nearly impossible to get into the fridge or move without getting all balletic.
Rumbling south through Alice to McAllen 200 miles away to see R and L and maybe R's renovation of a Walmart into a public library and maybe T's Wall.
