| ice on van in am - what if overpasses are icy! better have a another breakfast burrito |
Woke to ice rime on the bus as well as every thing else. So we stalled a bit and had breakfast in Ozona at Bryan's Poco Taco Shop operated by two friendly and efficient Latinas. Then we drove out of town kept going until we got to Fredricksburg and had a lunch of pasta at a pasta place that had all its inventory of canned ingredients as a wall separating the dining area from the kitchen. I liked my pasta but S didn't like hers. We kept a portion of each dish for later and I gave some of S's juice to B to enhance her dinner which is usually enriched with sardines in olive oil. So we arrive at the Hotel San Jose which is boutique but also architecturally engaging as in if I ever built a boutique hotel I would use this as an example. Anyway it cost $273 a night for a room with a shared bathroom so you have to weigh that in.
Met S's friends from way back and had a whirlwind dinner across Congress Avenue at Botticelli's. Had a nice chat with C and J a teaching doctor and an instructor of theology about the ed industry. Had a nice swim in the hotel pool which is heated which is good because it is in the low 30's and the wind is harsh. There is sleet reported in the suburbs.
Straight up Nabisco Honey Grahams in the room after lights out. B has the van with the heater on low and a chew thing called a Himalaya that is made out of some cheese residue and is apparently incredibly difficult to chew, so she's good as are we.
